Holidays To Egypt Simple Haggling Tips
Egypt is a lovely land of sands, sunsets, oases, and pyramids. Each year, millions of holidaymakers worldwide visit Egypt to see the mysterious Pyramids of Giza, the scenic Nile River, the dark Tomb of Tutankhamun, the mammoth Great Sphinx, and other sights. In the Middle East, Egypt is one of the most frequently visited nations.
On your holidays to Egypt, you may experience another type of attraction that is not regularly promoted in guide books — the street markets, souks, and bazaars. All around Cairo and other populated areas in Egypt, there are sellers offering all types of merchandise, from classical pottery to the latest electronics. Best of all, you can get them at very affordable prices — if you know how to bargain.
1. Don't be afraid or hesitant to haggle. Truly bartering and haggling is considered a normal way of doing business in the land. Therefore, hawkers already expect you that you will request for a lower rate.
2. Since not everybody in Egypt speaks English (or your native tongue), it may be difficult to talk when it comes to figures and numbers. Bring a small calculator. Merely type in the price you wish to pay for the selected good and show it to the vendor.
3. Sellers will initially tell you with the published price of the product. Do not agree with the figures immediately even if they seem extremely low. The initial price that is shown is usually ten times the actual value of the product.
4. A vendor may swear or show a fit if you indicate a lower rate. Don't let that affect you. Note that displaying "emotional fits" is the merchant's strategy of bargaining, as they want profit also.
5. Once you agree on an agreeable rate that you deem good to both, stick to it. If the seller does not honour the rate, walk away. Most likely, he will have second thoughts, afraid that you will get a similar item from his another store, and he will agree to your rate.
6. Do not get ripped off by taking a closer look at the currency being agreed on. Inquire if they are in English pounds or Egyptian pounds.
7. Check out other establishments. Most likely, you will come across similar goods at better prices.
Whether you are going for cheap holidays to Spain, Egypt, Turkey, or some other country, it pays to know the skill of haggling.
