Sightseeing at Agistri
A shuttle that operates daily from Piraeus to Agistri takes almost 45 minutes for the one-way trip. On completing the journey one will find a small scenic island, with undisturbed forestation and stunning blue hues of the sea. Apart from sightseeing its natural beauty, there are plenty of destinations that are worthy of discovering by tourists who visit the island.
Beaches:
The most popular beach on the island is the Skala beach. The gradual slope ensures that visitors experience no unexpected depths or rapid waves, making it safe for families with young children and thus popular amongst tourists. Being the most popular, it houses several services for tourist, and there are sun beds, umbrellas and many other items available for hire, for the convenience of the tourist. A big church in the vicinity is as popular as the beach amongst the tourists. Other beaches may serve more specific purposes, like the nudist Halikadha beach which appeals to tourists who are in a separate class of their own. Hence Agistri has something to offer for everyone and is the ideal vacation destination
Boat Trips to Surrounding Islands:
There are various small islands around Agistri which do not have any inhabitants, but are visited by tourists to Agistri Island. The islands are called Metopi, Kira, Spalathronisi and Darousa and tourists visit them for water activities such as snorkeling and swimming. Diving courses are also available for novices and to those with some experience.
Historical Sites:
The two chapels namely Agioi Pandes and Theodoroi are located in the middle of a heavy cover of beautiful pine trees. They are possibly one of the oldest standing buildings on the island, and part of Agistri’s history and heritage. The Virgin Mary Church at Metochi can be accessed via a trekking path which offers a stunning view of nature along the way. Several other historical churches are found on this island.
