Summer Vacations In Fabulous Lanzarote

The school summer holidays are fast approaching, so masses of people’s thoughts are turning towards booking the annual break aboard. After all, who wants to stay in Britain during summer season? And as usual Spain stays one of the most popular destinations for British tourists, with the Costas, the Balearics and the Canaries all eager for business.

At the eastern side of the Canaries and the nearest one to Africa is Lanzarote. The area boasts of incredible weather and excellent accessibility and flights to Lanzarote are available in all UK airports, the journey takes as little as four hours. With the return trip costing around €100, the holiday island is one of the most attractive of all.

A wide range of hotel choices is also available, providing tourists with the best accommodations possible. Accommodation is never a problem either as the island has plenty of Lanzarote holiday villas available for rent in all of the main resorts and towns across the island, as well as in the countryside too.

Exploring the island is also incredibly easy as Lanzarote is not large. Lanzarote car hire is also much cheaper than in the UK or Eire and there?s also a lot less traffic on the road which makes sightseeing a real pleasure.

So what are the best places tourists can go to? The island boasts of excellent beaches with sand stretching everywhere. Although the Canary Islands come with stretches of black sand, the Lanzarote beaches boast of golden stretches of beach. This is perhaps a little strange as Lanzarote is in fact more volcanic than say Tenerife, having experienced eruptions as recently as 300 years ago. Those who want to try out the black sand can find those around the El Golfo or the Playa Quemada.

The talents of artist C?sar Manrique also made it possible for the buildings to have an aesthetic appeal. Tourists will find that the island boasts of a palette of colors with white buildings blending perfectly with plants and flowers.

The north of the island is greenest and far more verdant in contrast to the south of the island which is predominantly very dry. Especially in and around the Valley of 1000 Palms, home to the pretty little village of Haria and a tradition that dates back centuries of locals planting palms to mark the birth of babies in the pueblo. Market for arts and crafts are also hosted every week, the biggest on Sunday at the former capital, Teguise.
