Treat Yourself To The Canaries This Winter
Looking into a holiday trip in the Canaries this autumn? This delightful group of islands are the preferred holiday destination for foreign tourists after Catalonia, and offer good weather all year long owing to the fact that they are situated close to the western coast of North Africa.
The largest and most commonly known island is Tenerife, boasting Spain's highest mountain Mount Teide, which towers a staggering 3718 metres above the island creating an unbelievable contrast between its gleaming white peak and the darker sun kissed beaches spread out along the the islands coast at sea level. Like many islands in the Canary islands chain, the southern areas are generally home to many of the most popular holiday hotspots and resorts, whilst the north remains cloudier, and this is where the main urban and commercial centres are located.
In comparison Lanzarote is a small island, roughly speaking size wise measuring 40km by 60km– and on the plus size hasn't been exposed to excessive development, so is far more akin to a natural unchanged island.
So anyone wanting to really get away from it all in the Canaries will find Lanzarote the most appropriate holiday location, as they will be rewarded with unbelievable landscapes, in particular in Lanzarote's northern region. Like Tenerife the principal vacation resorts are located in the islands southern most reaches and this is (not surprisingly) where you will often find the biggest choice of holiday accomodations: with significant amounts of apartment rentals and villas in Lanzarote available for booking.
Of the two major resorts Puerto del Carmen is certainly the most popular, boasting plenty of good beaches not to mention the quaint harbour that's worth a visit. There are also a good deal of budget friendly hotels and holiday villas in Puerto del Carmen for anyone in search of accommodation.
Playa Blanca is somewhat smaller and more peaceful and should be considered as a welcoming, peaceful location which is definitely not so focused on night life as most of the somewhat more energetic locations of Lanzarote, amazingly , instead the goal here is to keeping the beauty and original stature of this old fishing port. But there is still a broad choice of holiday apartments and villas in the area with year round availability
This fantastic mix of welcoming resorts, sun drenched beaches and dramatic natural landscapes make Lanzarote a unique and unforgettable holiday destination, so make sure to give it a look.
