Savour A Holiday Break In The Canaries

Thinking about a yearly vacation in the Canaries this fall? The islands that make up this chain are the most popular vacation spot for foreign tourists after Catalonia, and provide incredibly good weather year long due to a delightful location off the coast of Africa.

The largest and most widely recognised of this island chain is Tenerife, home to the towering Mount Teide, that rises majestically to 3718 metres above the island creating an extraordinary contrast between its glistening white peak and the darker sun kissed beaches elegantly spread out along the coastline at sea level. In contrast Lanzarote is a small island, roughly speaking size wise measuring 40km by 60km– and hasn't been scarred by excessive development.

So if you are looking to really get away from it all on their Canary Islands family vacation should head here, as the pristine surroundings are truly awe-inspiring, in particular in the north. Akin to the neighbouring island of Tenerife the key resorts are found in the islands southern most reaches and this is (not surprisingly) where you will often find the widest choice of accommodation; with 1000's of condos and villas in Lanzarote readily available.

Of Lanzarote's two largest destinations Puerto del Carmen is the most popular, offering plenty of great beaches and also the traditional style of the Old Town harbour area. In addition there are an excellent selection of budget friendly hotels and villas in Puerto del Carmen for anyone in search of accommodation.

Playa Blanca is just a little more compact and quieter and is mostly a warm and friendly, laid-back location which isn't as night life centric as many of the significantly more energetic resorts of Lanzarote, actually the focal point here seems to be towards conserving the charisma and original stature of its working history. But that said, visitors will still enjoy a huge choice of complexes and villas to suit almost any budget
