Summer Time Holidays In Outstanding Lanzarote
As the summer approaches, more and more people are deliberating spending the sunny season abroad. After all, who wants to throw away their summertime being subject to hard to rely on British weather? And as usual Spain stays probably the most preferred destinations for British tourists, along with the Costas, the Balearics and the Canaries all competing for business.
Lanzarote is the eastern most of the Canaries – which makes it the closest of these seven islands to the African continent. The area boasts of incredible weather and excellent accessibility and flights to Lanzarote are readily available these days from all UK airports, with a journey time of just four hours. And with returns from as low as €100 this makes this popular holiday island accessible to all.
As well as great weather, Lanzarote also boasts high standards of tourist accommodation offering a wide range of hotels and apartment complexes. Whilst for those who prefer to book self catering accommodation there is a wide range of Lanzarote villas that you can rent for a really satisfying vacation. These are located both in the main resorts and also in Lanzarotean countryside too.
Exploring the island is also incredibly easy as Lanzarote is not large. car hire in Lanzarote is also an excellent idea as the traffic is virtually non-existent, not to mention the fact that car rental is also very cheap so there is no excuse to get out and explore.
So what are the best sites one can explore? They say that life?s a beach and that is certainly true on Lanzarote as there are close to one hundred stretches of sand for tourists to enjoy. Golden sand is sprinkled all over the area instead of the usual black sand found in the Canary Islands. This is actually unusual as the island is more volcanic that other areas. The Playa Quemada and El Golfo also has samples of black sand should one want to try it out.
The talents of artist C?sar Manrique also made it possible for the buildings to have an aesthetic appeal. Tourists will find that the island boasts of a palette of colors with white buildings blending perfectly with plants and flowers.
The north part of the island shows the flora side of the environment. Especially in and around the Valley of 1000 Palms, home to the pretty little village of Haria and a tradition that dates back centuries of locals planting palms to mark the birth of babies in the pueblo. Haria also plays host to an excellent arts and craft market very week, but the largest market on the island is held every Sunday in Teguise, the former island capital.
